I cook almost every night for my husband and myself, though I don’t like cooking. Y’all got any husband-friendly healthy recipes to share?

    • I did oven baked butter garlic salmon with a small amount of white rice and vegetables.

    • My husband is a typical cowboy 🤠…meat and potatoes kinda guy but he is willing to adjust. We do stir fry with shrimp 🍤 or grilled chicken and rice. We also do spaghetti but use veggie pasta or protein pasta.

It has cooled off a little bit here in Texas, so I’m hoping to get in a few rides this week!

    • Hope you are doing well with your horses lameness rehab and your own rehab from your vertebrae injury. You’re amazing!

      • Yes, thanks! I’m all healed up but my horse is still having issues. She’s walk/trot for now, but that still gets me horseback 🙂

I love DST and I’ve been able to ride several times a week. I’m rehabbing my horse from some lameness issues and getting myself going again after fracturing a vertebrae last fall. Riding is just good medicine!

Weather has really put the skids on my riding. Well…that and my husbands work schedule. If the wind is blowing like it has been (and will be again today) it’s just not safe to ride with no one around. We will get to a point where it won’t matter, but until then…sigh. Hoping you all are getting in some good time with your equine partners.

Feeling my age a bit today. Joints are a bit sore. Don’t know if it’s the incoming storms or just doing more with the warmer weather. I’m a firm believer that exercise keeps the joints lubricated, but some days they (my joints) disagree. It’s all good, though. I still got up and worked out and will walk the dogs and horse this afternoon, as…[Read more]

Had to take a couple of days off from my workouts…the storm that rolled in took me out…huge headache, aching joints…grrr! But I’m baaaack!!! And I don’t feel like I missed a beat. I’m sticking with my 30 minute morning workouts, then I get the rest of my 10,000 steps in after chores are done. Even got the husband in on the walking.…[Read more]

Monday Motivation! Ernestine Shepherd is well into her 80’s! I am a couple decades away from that, but I’m “determined, dedicated, and disciplined” so I can be fit and healthy when I’m in my 80’s.

We have beautiful weather! Got another ride in today!

    • Sooo happy for you! Can I be jealous? Planned to ride on Saturday, but Mother Nature changed my mind. Dang wind! Going to blow again today and tomorrow, as well as rain tomorrow, sooo…guess I’ll have to wait a few more days. At least Scooter will have more time to get the meds working for his joints. Have a great week and Ride On!

I am doing Kundalini Lounge 40 day weight loss yoga. I think I’m at day 26 today. I just started the Kundalini Lounge 40 day Mental Health one with my daughter. I need to get more steps in though.

“Strength training makes everything easier.” (Debra Atkinson, Flipping 50) I know we all do a lot of moving and lifting on a daily basis…cleaning stalls, feeding, watering, scrubbing, etc., and our muscles have become accustomed to the routine. For me, this statement is definitely true. Although I’m not doing anymore than usual, it has become…[Read more]

Still no saddle time. Weather has been uncooperative…rain, snow, wind. Welcome to Spring in Utah.

This isn’t really a recipe, but it’s what I have for breakfast nearly every morning.

1 cup Fresh or frozen fruit
1/2 cup low fat, low sugar Greek Yogurt
    1 Tbs whole almonds

    Mix and enjoy!

The fresh fruit varies widely according to what’s in season. Strawberries are starting to come in!

I’ll be getting in my second ride of the week after work today. The weather in Texas is fully cooperating- for now! Thank goodness for DST!
